Mamas Gun

On 12 May 2026 Mamas Gun will perform at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The London band, fronted by singer-guitarist and songwriter Andy Platts, has been crafting a distinctive mix of soul and pop since the mid-2000s, with clear funk and 1970s R&B influences. Their songs center on strong melodies, vocal harmonies and arrangements where groove and softly rocking accents meet, leaving room for ballads and mid-tempo tracks that roll smoothly in concert.

From the debut Routes to Riches (2009) through The Life and Soul (2011) and Cheap Hotel (2014), the sound gradually shifted toward more compact, song-focused productions. Golden Days (2018) and Cure the Jones (2022) deepen that trajectory with soulful pieces that have come into their own in clubs and at festivals across the UK, Europe and Asia. At the same time, Platts's work in the duo Young Gun Silver Fox informs his songwriting and arrangement choices, audible in the harmonies and the feel for timeless hooks.
