Marillion

Marillion will play on 16 October 2026 at PLT - Theater Heerlen in Heerlen. The British band, formed in the late 1970s, melds the heritage of prog rock with clear, song-oriented writing and long, narrative pieces. First with Fish and albums such as Script for a Jester’s Tear and Misplaced Childhood; later, with Steve Hogarth behind the microphone, the focus shifted toward a more introspective approach with Seasons End and Brave. Those two faces form a single whole in concert.

On stage Marillion build their music in layers: Steve Rothery’s melodic guitar, Mark Kelly’s atmospheric keyboards, the solid rhythm section of Pete Trewavas and Ian Mosley, and Hogarth’s voice and storytelling. Expect a set that places classics alongside more recent material, with room for cyclical themes, silences and worked-out climaxes. Tracks from Marbles, F E A R and An Hour Before It’s Dark can sit alongside favourites from the early years, in arrangements that breathe and shift. It will be an evening in which the band keeps its catalogue in motion, with attention to detail, dynamics and the arc of tension that defines their live shows.
