Info

On 24 March 2026 Squeeze will play at Patronaat in Haarlem. The London band, formed in 1974 around the songwriting duo Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, blends the sharper side of new wave with melodic pop and lyrics that sharply sketch everyday life. Difford’s deadpan comic observations and Tilbrook’s supple melodies and guitar lines still form the creative core of Squeeze.

In the late 1970s the group broke through with “Take Me I’m Yours,” “Cool for Cats” and “Up the Junction”; in the 1980s albums such as East Side Story and Sweets from a Stranger followed. There have been pauses and lineup changes, but the core has kept writing and playing, with recent work on Cradle to the Grave and The Knowledge. Live, Squeeze moves between angular pop, new wave and a touch of pub rock, with harmonies that immediately connect and narrative songs that linger. Expect a set that puts early favorites alongside newer numbers, carried by the voices and guitars of Difford and Tilbrook—precisely what they have always been about: strong songs, tightly played, no frills.
