Info

On 12 December 2026 Mammoth plays the Melkweg in Amsterdam. The project of multi-instrumentalist Wolfgang Van Halen, son of Eddie Van Halen, draws its own line between alternative rock, hard-hitting outbursts and melodies that stick. For years he was the bassist in Van Halen; he then launched his solo career under the name Mammoth WVH, now shortened to Mammoth. Distance, his tribute to his father, set the tone: personal, direct and driven by strong songs.

The self-titled debut demonstrated how far his control extends: written, performed and produced by Wolfgang himself, with tracks such as Don’t Back Down and Epiphany. On the second album, Mammoth II, the overall sound is more compact and heavier, with tighter riffs and choruses that land immediately. Live he is supported by a steady band that translates the studio energy into a tight, no-nonsense set.

At the Melkweg, Mammoth will move through both records, from massive guitar layers to clear hooks, without frills. Between legacy and his own vision, Wolfgang is building a sound that is recognisable and increasingly taking shape, with a focus on songwriting and dynamics that gains extra space on stage.
