On 20 April 2026, toe bring their Tokyo-born instrumental rock to Neue Welt in Berlin. Formed in 2000 and unchanged since, the quartet unites Takaaki Mino and Hirokazu Yamazaki on guitars, Satoshi Yamane on bass and Takashi Kashikura on drums. Their music sits between math rock and post-rock, folding in touches of jazz, R&B and electronic textures. Clear, interlocking guitar lines trade motifs and harmonics while the drums slide between shifting meters and displaced backbeats; the bass ties the patterns together and opens space for melody.

Across releases like The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety (2005), For Long Tomorrow (2009) and Hear You (2015), toe have honed a writing style built on composed rhythms, tight melodic phrases and dynamic contrasts, mostly instrumental with occasional voices. Their new album NOW I SEE THE LIGHT (2024) reconnects early and recent threads and gives fresh material to their live set.
