Turin Brakes bring their Spacehopper European Tour to Munich: on 2 March 2026 the duo will play at Strom. Founded in the late 1990s in Balham in south London, Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian have always centered on an acoustic-driven folk-rock characterized by close two-part harmonies, delicate fingerpicking and clear melodies. Early regarded as part of the British New Acoustic Movement, they released the LP The Optimist in 2001 and expanded their sound toward electric folk-rock on Ether Song (2003). Later albums such as JackInABox, Dark on Fire, Outbursts, We Were Here, Lost Property, Invisible Storm and most recently Wide-Eyed Nowhere illustrate the tension between restrained intimacy and more broadly arranged songs. Live, Turin Brakes perform with an expanded band and blend balladic pieces with pop and soft-rock nuances. In Munich they will present a cross-section of this repertoire—melodic, direct and rooted in their acoustic core.
