On 16 August 2026, The Dark Tenor will perform on the Seebühne Bremen. Behind the project is classically trained tenor and songwriter Billy Andrews, who since the 2010s has been linking operatic material with pop and rock structures. On stage, arias, overtures and symphonic motifs meet tightly constructed songs with choruses, distinctive rhythms and contemporary sounds. The show combines romantic repertoire with original material, shifts between stripped-down passages and sections reminiscent of orchestral rock, and employs a dark, theatrical visual language. Albums such as Symphony of Light, Nightfall Symphony and Symphony of Ghosts provide the basis for new arrangements, often supported by a band, choir or small ensemble. At the center is the tenor voice, which translates classical themes—such as cycles built around Beethoven—into a contemporary format.
