The Devil and the Almighty Blues

The Norwegian five-piece The Devil and the Almighty Blues will bring their heavy, slow-burning blues rock to the stage at Knust in Hamburg on 27 April 2026. Emerging from Oslo’s scene, the band blends the roots of traditional blues with hints of ’70s rock, doom and psychedelia. Two guitars operate in constant tension, the rhythm section holds the foundation broad and powerful, and atop it sits a dark vocal delivery that gives the songs a calm, persistent gravity. Since their self-titled debut in 2015 and the albums II (2017) and Tre (2019), the quintet has followed a distinct format: long songs, repetitive riffs, slow build-ups that escalate from small motifs, accompanied by melancholic melodies and a dense, expansive sound. Live, this material exerts its pull in restrained tempos and precise dynamics; guitar lines orbit one another, pauses breathe, grooves remain stoic until the arcs of tension finally break. A show that relies less on flash and more on interplay, texture and patient intensity.
