Info
Marcos Valle, born in 1943 in Rio de Janeiro, has shaped Bossa Nova and Música Popular Brasileira since the 1960s as a pianist, singer and composer. He became known for "Samba de Verão" (1964), written with his brother Paulo Sérgio Valle; early albums such as "Samba Demais" (1963) and "O Compositor e o Cantor" (1965) combined bossa, samba and jazz harmonies. At the end of the 1960s and during the 1970s he opened his sound to rock, soul and funk—on records like "Viola Enluarada" (1968) and "Previsão do Tempo" (1973)—and composed music for television and cinema.
In the late 1990s he reconnected with club cultures through "Nova Bossa Nova" (1998) and found an affinity with acid jazz and nu-bossa. Later releases, including "Sempre" (2019), continue this trajectory, bridging Brazilian tradition and contemporary grooves.
On 16 May 2026 at the Knust, Neuer Kamp 30, 20357 Hamburg, Valle will bring his repertoire to the stage: pieces from different phases, melodic lines on piano, vocals and rhythmic figures spanning samba, bossa, funk and jazz. The set—comprising classics and more recent tracks—draws together his extensive songbook and highlights the variety of his arrangements.
