Born from the 90s Toronto indie circuit, the power trio fronted by singer-guitarist Danko Jones with longtime bassist John Calabrese delivers a direct, riff-led hard rock that leans on punk urgency and a bluesy edge. From Born a Lion and We Sweat Blood to Sleep Is the Enemy, Never Too Loud and Below the Belt, then Power Trio and Electric Sounds, their path stays clear: fast tempos, compact songs and hooks that hit straight. More than two decades in, the band runs on sharp guitars and no-frills arrangements shaped for the stage.
Zeus opens. Also from Toronto, the group built around Carlin Nicholson, Mike O’Brien and Neil Quin, with Rob Drake on drums, draws on 60s/70s classic rock while keeping an indie temper. Sounds Like Zeus and Say Us set the tone, followed by Busting Visions, Classic Zeus and The Line: melodic guitars, warm keys and tight vocal harmonies. Their catalog moves between power-pop drive and a softer, more introspective side, carried by a careful sense of arrangement.
