Info
On April 23, 2027, The Academic bring their indie rock rush to Manchester Academy, with the kind of set built for people who like their guitars bright and their choruses immediate. The Mullingar quartet—Craig Fitzgerald, Dean Gavin, and brothers Matthew and Stephen Murtagh—grew fast on the back of Tales From The Backseat, the 2018 debut that went straight to the top of the Irish charts, and they’ve kept sharpening their formula ever since.
With Sitting Pretty (2023), they leaned further into that mix of modern punch and nostalgia, nodding to classic British pop and wired art-rock without turning it into a history lesson. Expect tight, melodic songs that move quickly from clean riffs to big singalong hooks, plus a live energy that feels direct and unfiltered—more band-in-a-room than polished spectacle.
