Info
On 5 October 2026, Baaba Maal brings his voice and wide-open sound world to Blue Note London for a concert that sits right at the crossroads of tradition and modern grooves. Rooted in the cultural heritage of northern Senegal’s Fouta region and often sung in Pulaar, his music moves easily between Sahelian melodies and West African folk, then slides into pop, reggae and soul without losing its narrative drive.
Across a career that’s gone from early work with guitarist Mansour Seck and Daande Lenol to internationally known records like Baayo, Firin’ in Fouta and Nomad Soul, Maal has kept evolving: acoustic warmth one moment, electric lift the next, with room for Afro-pop, rock, rap or electronic textures when the songs call for it. Expect a set built around the power of the voice, tight rhythms and stories tied to place, with the kind of stage presence that turns a venue into a shared pulse.
