Simply Red comes to the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on 19 June 2027 with “Summer Funk ’27”, an evening around the unmistakable mix of British pop and soul that the band has been delivering since the 1980s. At the center is, of course, Mick Hucknall: his smooth, direct voice remains the anchor, whether it’s early breakthrough tracks like “Money’s Too Tight (to Mention)” and “Holding Back the Years,” or the more polished, broader sound that made the group famous on albums such as A New Flame and Stars. Live, Simply Red moves effortlessly between elegant soul-pop, soft rock and subtle funk accents, with room for both their own classics and that period when covers and a danceable groove helped shape the sound. Since the band’s relaunch in 2015, there has been a refreshed lineup around Hucknall, with the experience and craftsmanship you’d expect from a band that continues to sharpen its repertoire, from Blue Eyed Soul to Time.
