On 31 October 2026 at Leeds Arena in Leeds, Paul Heaton steps on stage with the melodic storytelling that has marked his path since the 1980s. From the jangling indie of The Housemartins, formed in 1983, to the broader palette of The Beautiful South in 1988, his catalogue blends pop, soul inflections and light folk touches. His solo records and the duo albums with Jacqui Abbott carry the same clear-eyed writing about everyday life, relationships and British social themes. The set draws across eras, with songs from The Mighty Several alongside pieces from his Housemartins, Beautiful South and duo periods.
Also on the bill, The Lightning Seeds, Ian Broudie’s Liverpool project turned live band. First imagined in the studio with Cloudcuckooland and Sense, the group grew into a touring outfit after Jollification, building a line of melodic pop singles and precise arrangements: The Life of Riley, Change, Lucky You, You Showed Me, and Three Lions with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner. Between indie pop, britpop and light alternative rock, their supple guitars and clean hooks share common ground with Heaton’s focus on songcraft.
