Buzzcocks

On 5 December 2026 at 100 Club in London, Buzzcocks take the stage with the lean, melodic rush that wired punk speed to pop instincts. Formed in Bolton in 1976 by Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto, soon joined by Steve Diggle, they first made noise with the self-released Spiral Scratch EP. The late-70s run of Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension set a template: short, hook-led songs, a direct rhythm section, and lyrics circling desire, doubt and the static of everyday life. After regrouping at the end of the 80s, the band kept writing and touring through albums like Trade Test Transmissions, All Set, Modern and Buzzcocks. Following Pete Shelley’s passing in 2018, guitarist Steve Diggle stepped up on vocals and has steered the group into the present, most recently with Sonics in the Soul (2022). Live, the catalogue lands fast and close-up: Spiral Scratch cuts, bite-sized singles and newer tracks share the same tight focus, taut guitars and unvarnished harmonies.
