Everlast

On 1 September 2026, Everlast brings his hybrid songwriting to Rough Trade Nottingham for a live performance and signing tied to his new album Embers to Ashes. Born Erik Schrody, the Long Island artist first emerged with House of Pain before reshaping his voice under the Whitey Ford banner, where guitars, slow-burn beats and a talk-sung phrasing opened space for plainspoken storytelling. From Whitey Ford Sings the Blues through Eat at Whitey’s, White Trash Beautiful and later records, he has kept one foot in hip-hop and the other in folk and blues, a line also traced through collaborations with Santana and the La Coka Nostra collective.

This in-store set leans into that balance: acoustic textures, rap cadences and bluesy hooks, with new material from Embers to Ashes woven alongside staples from a catalog spanning three decades. The focus stays on narrative detail and unvarnished melodies, the kind that sit well in a room where the voice leads.
