Originally from Bordeaux, Les Hurlements d’Léo formed in the mid-1990s. They began by playing in bars and venues across the region before releasing their first album in 1998, Café des jours heureux, which would take them to tour 22 countries in three years. No matter where they sleep, these passionate musicians have music in their blood.
Lovers of freedom and authenticity, their lyrics reflect their moods, whether sad or joyful; they are the mirror of their journeys—realistic, sensitive and imbued with poetry. A prominent figure on the so-called 'fanfare rock' alternative scene, Les Hurlements d’Léo distill with rock, even punk, energy, a musical blend of chanson, musette, java and gypsy music, which they define themselves as 'java-chanson-punk-caravaning'.
After several albums and collaborations, notably with their friends Les Ogres de Barback, Les Hurlements d’Léo pay homage to the work of Mano Solo by covering several of his songs since 2014.
