Culture Club

Culture Club bring their blend of new wave pop, soul inflections and reggae rhythms to the stage on 13 December 2026 at Utilita Arena Newcastle, Newcastle upon Tyne. Fronted by Boy George, with Roy Hay on guitar and keyboards and Mikey Craig on bass, the group built a sound in the early 1980s by pairing melodic hooks with warm grooves and synth textures. The live set connects defining singles and deeper cuts: Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, Time (Clock of the Heart), Church of the Poison Mind, Karma Chameleon, alongside later material from Don’t Mind If I Do and Life.

From Kissing to Be Clever and Colour by Numbers through the band’s later chapters, the show maps a catalogue that has moved with the times while keeping its core DNA. Tight harmonies, call-and-response refrains and supple basslines anchor arrangements that carry the songs without overloading them, leaving space for the melodies to land. Boy George’s phrasing ties eras together and steers the mood from bittersweet ballad sway to upbeat shuffle. Culture Club revisit their history without freezing it, updating textures and letting the songs breathe in a live setting.
