The Lemonheads return to London for a date at Troxy on 2 October 2026. Formed in Boston in 1986 and still steered by Evan Dando, the band’s live identity stays agile: a revolving cast built around Dando’s guitar and voice, pushing rough-edged chords against alt-country-tinged melodies. That light-and-dark balance runs through their catalogue, from the punky college-rock origins to bright power-pop turns and a more acoustic streak, with songs that lean catchy without losing bite.
A new chapter is in motion with Love Chant on the way, a record that has Dando sparring on guitar with guests like J Mascis and Nick Saloman. The songwriting cuts close to the bone, the voice a little lower and more brooding, the lines still sharp and barbed. On stage, expect that contrast to come into focus: chiming riffs rubbing up against fuzz, pop hooks threaded with folk undertow, and a set that reaches across decades.
