On 25 October 2026 at Utilita Arena Newcastle, The Strokes bring their sharp, New York-forged rock to the stage. Formed in 1998, the quintet built a sound of intertwined guitars, a direct rhythm section and a cool, front-and-centre vocal delivery. From the early blast of The Modern Age and Is This It through Room on Fire and First Impressions of Earth, the band honed concise, nervy songwriting before folding in new wave and synth shades on Angles and Comedown Machine. The New Abnormal pushed that palette further without losing their tight, street-level pulse. It’s a set where lean riffs, taut grooves and clipped melodies do the talking.
Opening the evening, Alex Cameron trades in narrative pop where synths and soft-rock touches frame first-person tales, carried by his baritone and the sax lines of longtime accomplice Roy Molloy. Also on the bill, Fat White Family channel a distinctly English strain of post-punk, garage and psych: lo-fi edges on Champagne Holocaust, darker turns on Songs for Our Mothers, broader colours on Serfs Up!, and a renewed formula on Forgiveness Is Yours. Three angles on modern rock, one room.
