Joe Jackson brings his Hope and Fury Tour 2026 to York Barbican in York on 7 October 2026. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, the British songwriter, singer and bandleader has navigated post-punk, pop and orchestral writing since his late-70s debut. After Look Sharp! and I’m the Man set his tone, Night and Day carried him worldwide with Steppin’ Out, followed by the brassy colours of Body and Soul, the live-in-studio Big World, and later detours like Will Power, Blaze of Glory and Laughter & Lust. He returned to band energy on Volume 4, leaned into piano-led textures on Rain, and kept moving forward with Fast Forward, Fool and, more recently, What a Racket!.

On stage, Jackson alternates tight ensemble passages with solo turns at the piano, reshaping older material alongside newer songs. For this date, the focus is squarely on the breadth of his writing and arranging, a catalogue that spans more than four decades and shifts with ease between pop hooks, new wave edges and refined harmonies. From Night and Day to What a Racket!, the show traces the through-line of his work while giving space to the interplay between voice, keys and band.
