AFI plays SWG3 Glasgow on 26 August 2026. Formed in early‑90s California, A Fire Inside grew from breakneck hardcore and skate punk into a darker, more melodic strain of alternative rock. Davey Havok’s cutting delivery sits over Adam Carson’s precise drumming, with Hunter Burgan and Jade Puget shaping the low-end drive and sharp, textural guitars. The early rush of Answer That and Stay Fashionable and Very Proud of Ya fed into the shadowed sweep of Black Sails in the Sunset and The Art of Drowning, where gang vocals and a goth tint took root. Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground pushed atmosphere and dynamics further, while Crash Love and Burials leaned into modern rock contours; The Blood Album and Bodies folded in new wave touches without dropping the band’s guitar-bass-drums core.

On stage, AFI runs on tension and release: chant-ready choruses, clipped riffs and melodies that open out. The set draws across eras, stitching the velocity of their origins to the moodier colors of their later work, with tight rhythms, layered vocals and the collective surge of voices that has long marked the band’s live shows.
