GLARE
Formed in 2017 in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, Glare threads shoegaze, dream pop and alternative rock together. Saturated guitars, stretched melodies and understated vocals make up a dense sound, crafted around weight and contrast. Emerging from a DIY background, the band has honed a songwriting approach that allows for slowdowns and melancholic atmospheres without relinquishing a noise-driven momentum. Their debut album, Sunset Funeral, probes grief and its echoes, with tracks that let texture speak as loudly as the lyrics.
GLIXEN
Based in Phoenix, Glixen operate as a quartet centered on Aislinn Ritchie’s serene voice. The group moves between reverb-washed soundscapes and heavy riffs, drawing on influences from My Bloody Valentine and Hum to Björk, even Godflesh or t.A.T.u., striking a balance between tension and melodic clarity. Their second EP, quiet pleasures, recorded at Pale Moon Ranch and shaped by Sonny DiPerri and Dave Cooley, condenses five songs in which measured vocal lines and grainy guitars answer one another.
MIDRIFT
A San Francisco trio, Midrift brings together Manoa and Kai Neukermans with Gus Merkam at the crossroads of shoegaze, melodic grunge and raw emo. With Deftones, Title Fight, Whirr and Smashing Pumpkins among their touchstones, the band proceeds with restrained tempos, thick guitars and vocals that alternate between pop clarity and grit. Since releasing a self-titled EP in 2022, Midrift have been gigging across California and Texas, sharing bills with Fiddlehead, Momma, Glare, Quannnic and Wisp.
