Ben Sidran Quartet

Ben Sidran arrives at the Sunset Sunside in Paris on 12 June 2026, accompanied by his quartet. A pianist, singer, composer and producer born in Chicago and raised in Wisconsin, he has been carving out a path since the late 1960s between jazz, rhythm and blues, the American song tradition and rock. Discovered as a member of the Steve Miller Band before releasing his own recordings from 1971 onward, he has refined a recognizable language: a piano steeped in bop and blues, a flexible groove, and a semi-spoken phrasing that blends vocal jazz, soul and songwriter craft.

On stage in a quartet, this mixture grows in scope. Sidran alternates original songs with reinterpretations of the American repertoire, experiments with tempos, establishes moods and then moves into storytelling. Forms contract or expand depending on the moment, allowing the dialogue between the keyboard and the rhythm section to flow. The concert is conceived as a continuous conversation, where musicality and the meaning of the words advance together.
