Союз (Soyuz)

SOYUZ will be at Petit Bain on October 8, 2026. Born in Minsk and based in Warsaw, the collective brings together multi‑instrumentalists Alex Chumak and Mikita Arlou, with Albert Karch on drums and Igor Wiśniewski on guitar. The band’s name means “union”: in the studio, Chumak writes finely arranged compositions nourished by jazz, folk and global influences; on stage, the quartet reworks these pieces through improvisation, stretches the forms and lets ideas circulate between the four instruments.

After two early albums inspired by Eastern European pop jazz, SOYUZ drew attention with Force of the Wind on Mr Bongo, and has played festivals such as Primavera Sound, XJAZZ and ESNS. In 2025 the group released KROK, mostly in Belarusian, recorded between São Paulo, Stockholm and Warsaw. String and woodwind arrangements occupy a central place there and provide the foundation for their live versions. Between East‑European roots and contemporary openness, SOYUZ unfolds a melodic, collective language that develops over the course of the set, driven by tight interplay and a constant listening among the musicians.
