Rise Against lands at Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg on March 22, 2026. Formed in Chicago in the late 1990s, the band forged a link between punk rock and melodic hardcore, driven by Tim McIlrath’s vocals alongside Joe Principe, Brandon Barnes and, since 2007, guitarist Zach Blair. From the hardcore charge of The Unraveling (2001) and Revolutions per Minute (2003) to the broader choruses of Siren Song of the Counter Culture (2004) and The Sufferer & the Witness (2006), they’ve shaped a sound that balances speed and melody. Albums like Appeal to Reason (2008), Endgame (2011), The Black Market (2014), Wolves (2017) and Nowhere Generation (2021) add alternative rock dynamics, with lyrics focused on social tension, US politics and personal dilemmas in the face of power.
Also on the bill, Sacramento’s Destroy Boys, built around the duo of Alexia Roditis and Violet Mayugba, bring a fast, melodic punk streak with shades of pop‑punk, garage and grunge. Born in DIY spaces, they write plainly about identity, relationships, gendered violence and mental health. After early releases and two albums—Sorry, Mom (2016) and Make Room (2018)—their 2021 record Open Mouth, Open Heart on Hopeless Records sharpened the contrasts between urgency and melody, while keeping a strong link to activist, queer and feminist scenes.
