Cavetown will be performing at the Élysée Montmartre in Paris on April 3, 2026. Behind that name is Robin Skinner, a British musician who became known for songs of an intimate, direct tone that can move listeners without overdoing it. His writing, simple and precise, speaks of everyday life, doubts and the impulses that make us grow, and has found a lasting resonance with a loyal audience.
With Running With Scissors, his new album, Cavetown takes a real turn. He examines family inheritance—what we receive and what we transform—and explores how to chart one’s own course. The record was born out of a two-year period of reassessment, nourished by two striking events: falling in love for the first time and welcoming the arrival of a much younger sibling.
This shift can be heard in the album’s contrasts. Bright tracks like “Skip” celebrate the rush of romance, while others, such as “Cryptid,” let a new, candid anger surface. Between acoustic gentleness and rougher, hyperpop-tinged edges, Cavetown weaves textures that respond to one another, for a live set that advances in small jolts—from intimate confidences to bursts of energy—without losing sight of the sincerity that is his hallmark.
