Info
On 24 April 2027, The Academic land at SWG3 Glasgow with their tight, hook-heavy brand of Irish indie rock. Hailing from Mullingar, the quartet built its rep on sharp guitars, melodic choruses and that restless energy that turns songs into proper singalongs. Expect a set that draws from their breakout debut Tales From The Backseat, the record that pushed them straight to the top of the Irish charts, while making room for the more polished, modern edge of their second album Sitting Pretty (2023). Their sound sits somewhere between pop-rock immediacy and a slight nostalgic streak, with nods to classic British and American songwriting in the way riffs lock in and rhythms keep things moving. Live, they keep it direct: punchy arrangements, quick momentum shifts, and a feel for crowd connection that doesn’t need any gimmicks. Plus special guests round out the night, but the main thing is catching The Academic in full band mode, built for sweaty rooms and big choruses.
