Info
Supergrass land in Manchester for a live set at Manchester Academy on May 1, 2027, bringing that Oxford-bred mix of punk snap, British pop hooks and alternative rock drive. Formed in 1993 around Gaz Coombes, Mick Quinn and Danny Goffey, the band first hit with “Caught by the Fuzz” before the rush of I Should Coco (1995) and the sharper, more crafted turn of In It for the Money (1997). On stage, that evolution matters: the early, nervous rush sits next to tighter songwriting and fuller arrangements shaped across Supergrass (1999), Life on Other Planets (2002) and later records that flirt with psychedelia, glam and darker shades. With Rob Coombes’ keyboards becoming an official part of the lineup in 2002, their songs gained extra colour without losing speed. After splitting in 2010 and returning in 2019, this show is a chance to hear concise choruses and a band dynamic built for big rooms, played with the same instinct for quick turns and mood shifts.
