On October 15, 2026, Sam Tompkins returns to Paris, to perform at the Étoiles, to showcase Are We Gonna Sing?, a record that marks a new milestone in his career. The Brighton-born singer-songwriter has carved out a distinctive place for himself thanks to a strong voice, a very direct writing style, and a way of singing vulnerability without hedging, staying as close as possible to what one feels.
After the EP Who Do You Pray To? and the album Hi, My Name Is Insecure, both of which reached the UK Top 10, Tompkins continues on an intimate yet more expansive vein. On Are We Gonna Sing?, largely recorded live, he leans toward organic production, live-played instruments, and vocal takes that are minimally retouched. The collaboration with London-based producer Humble the Great notably gave the project its momentum, with tracks like Beauty Queen.
At the center is the grief for his father, who died in November 2023, and all that accompanies it: sadness, guilt, healing, then a slow return to hope. On stage, these songs take on a collective dimension, between raw, intimate ballads and brighter, more luminous moments.
