Info
On June 14, 2027 in Vancouver, Sundown Sessions brings Joshua Baraka to the stage for a set built on the smooth side of today’s East African pop. The Ugandan singer-songwriter and producer moves where afrobeats, R&B, dancehall and amapiano overlap, with mid-tempo grooves, flexible vocals and choruses that stick without getting flashy.
Since the early 2020s, Baraka has been shaping a melodic, streamlined sound: from his first EP Baby Steps (2021) to the wider reach of “Nana” (2023), then the Growing Pains run and its expanded 2024 edition. Live, that mix translates into sentimental cuts, dance-ready textures and crisp production, plus the crossover mindset that’s marked his recent work. Expect a performance that shifts naturally between intimate moments and club pulse, with room for the collaborations and regional bridges that have helped his music travel well beyond Kampala.
