Info
On January 29, 2027, Nubiyan Twist land at Hangar 34 in Liverpool with a fresh 2026 live show and a new line-up, still driven by the same collective spirit. Built like a nine-piece engine room, the band pulls jazz, afrobeat, soul, hip-hop and dance music into one tight, moving set where brass hits, vocals and percussion lock together and leave plenty of space for improvisation.
Formed in Leeds in the early 2010s and led by guitarist and composer Tom Excell, Nubiyan Twist have shaped a sound that feels both arranged and free, switching gears between big-band power and groove-first momentum. Their music carries the mark of collaborations with artists like Nile Rodgers, Tony Allen, Seun Kuti and Fatoumata Diawara, and it’s that open, cross-genre mindset that defines the night: rhythm-heavy, constantly shifting, and made for a crowd that wants to dance as much as listen.
