Info
On May 25, 2027, Seckou Keita brings his solo show to Dalston Eastern Curve Garden in London, putting the kora right at the center of the night. Raised in the Mandinka tradition in southern Senegal, Keita has built a sound that respects the griot roots of the instrument while opening it up to fresh shapes and unexpected turns. On stage, he moves from bright, dancing patterns to quieter, reflective passages, letting vocals and intricate string work do the heavy lifting.
Known for a style that keeps stretching what the kora can do, he blends West African forms with hints of folk and jazz without turning it into a fusion exercise. Expect a set that feels close-up and generous: rhythmic drive, melodic detail, and the kind of direct connection that makes a solo performance hit like a full band.
