Info
Indie in Town is back at The George Tavern on 26 November to introduce Dutch bands Grote Geelstaart and Crybabies. They have both never played in the UK before. Bring your friends, we will bring the mini stroopwafels.
Grote Geelstaart walks the tightrope like an acrobat who could lose their balance at a moment’s notice. Noise is orchestrated in such a way that it bubbles to a boiling point. They haul a sizeable mountain of gear to every show, including two drum kits and a collection of pedals. With oblique soundscapes over even more oblique time signatures, they create a live show that is as claustrophobic and cramped as a fish out of water. Grote Geelstaart manages to enchant their audience with their daunting Dadaist dance beats. Their pristine white shirts and colourful ties prove to be nothing but a farce.
Crybabies: have you ever considered how a thunderstorm would sound during clear sunny skies? Crybabies from Tilburg, the Netherlands, know how to conjure up that feeling into heavy beats, fuzzy, dreamy guitars and melancholic lyrics. As the name suggests, the members love to shed a little tear now and then, and they find that being too sensitive is a great thing to be in a cold and bitter world.
