Info
Somewhere Good is the first new music from the Bristol three-piece Tara Clerkin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Patrick Benjamin since their 2023 mini album On The Turning Ground. Described by Pitchfork as an amble through psych-pop and washed-out breakbeats, harpsichord interludes and dubby balladry, it is already on its fourth repress, as are previous releases In Spring and the 2019 self-titled debut.
Musician Ryan Davis, of Ryan Davis and the Roundhouse Band, was inspired to write about the album.
For him, in some parallel universe or a not-so-distant future version of the one we are already living in, if artificial intelligence were successful in its attempts to create convincingly enjoyable original music, more specifically tasked with encapsulating his own personal tastes by scanning his posters, records, mixtapes and even his auditory cortex, amygdala, hippocampus and heart strings, with the intention of generating one all-encompassing band based on these findings, that band would be, or would at least sound like, the Tara Clerkin Trio. For him, it is the music he wishes to hear.
