Info
On December 6, 2026, Empire Music Hall in Belfast hosts a night where Irish tradition meets sharp, modern songwriting. Beoga bring their collective groove built on jigs, reels and airs, shaped into tight ensemble pieces where accordion, bodhrán, piano and strings lock together with a real sense of drive. Since forming in 2002, they’ve kept one foot firmly in the trad repertoire while letting contemporary arrangements and pop-leaning writing slip in, especially across recent releases like Carousel, the Breathe EP and the newer Phases.
Also on the bill, Belfast’s own Duke Special steps in with his piano-led songs and that unmistakable baroque-pop, cabaret-tinged touch. Expect singer-songwriter melodies dressed up with chamber-pop detail, shifting between intimacy and theatrical flair, in the spirit of his long-running run from Adventures in Gramophone to Blood for Ghosts. Two very different ways of stretching folk roots, on the same stage, the same night.
