Info
Imagine a fusion of futuristic synthpop, shoegaze guitars, dreampop and cosmic lush synths from the year 9000, in Los Angeles, in colourful outfits. Think Sprinkles and Rainbows meets Alice in Wonderland meets Sgt. Pepper, elevated by a Black gospel soul choir.
Hyperreal return to The Cluny 2 after a show in March that was part of their UK tour for their debut album you.me.us. The raw energy of soul-stirring Black gospel harmonies, fused with lush synths, shoegaze guitars, psychedelic soul and dreampop soundscapes, creates a euphoric live experience. Add in an Afrofuturistic rhythm section with a female drummer and new African percussionist and you have something different.
Hyperreal are on the road this time with their new What Makes You You Is Your Superpower five-song EP, a rallying cry for those who are different, misfits and outsiders who struggle to fit in, to be their true selves and take pride in being away from the norm. This is soul-bearing, heart-on-sleeve music boosted by the passion that only a Black gospel choir can bring.
