Info
Stereo MCs arrive on May 8, 2027 at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen with a live set that traces the throughline from their South London roots to a club-oriented sound. Around Rob Birch and Nick Hallam, it still centers on that smooth blend of British hip hop, house, funk and soul, built on tight grooves and hooks that linger without turning into pure pop.
If you know them from Connected (1992), you immediately know what it’s about: rap and vocals alternating, rhythms that point straight to the dance floor, and tracks such as 'Connected', 'Step It Up', 'Creation' and 'Ground Level' as touchstones. At the same time, there is room for the band's broader legacy, mindful of their remix and DJ culture, and of the group’s history in which Cath Coffey and drummer Owen If (died in 2022) also have a place. An evening for anyone who loves beats with an edge and a warm groove.
