On 12 June 2027, The Saw Doctors bring their Irish rock and folk-pop to The Piece Hall in Halifax, with special guests Biird. Formed in Tuam, County Galway in 1986 around Davy Carton and Leo Moran, the band built its reputation the old-school way: touring hard, sharpening big guitar-pop choruses and telling everyday stories with a very west-of-Ireland accent.
Expect a set that leans into the group’s signature blend of rock, folk-rock and melodic jangle, the kind of songs made to be sung back in unison. Their catalogue stretches from the early breakthrough “I Useta Lover” and the album If This Is Rock and Roll, I Want My Old Job Back, through later records like Songs from Sun Street, Villains? and The Cure, up to recent activity with the 2024 EP Wha’D’ya Think a That. In Halifax, it’s all about that live energy they’ve kept at the centre of the band for decades.
