Protomartyr land in Glasgow for a live set at The Garage on February 12, 2027, bringing their Detroit-bred post-punk tension into full focus. Since No Passion All Technique (2012), the quartet have built a sound that feels both grounded and restless: angular guitar lines from Greg Ahee, a rigid, driving rhythm section with Alex Leonard on drums and Scott Davidson on bass, and Joe Casey’s voice—more spoken than sung—cutting through with a grave, deadpan delivery.
Onstage, Protomartyr’s songs thrive on that clash between the literal and the oblique, where politics, poetry, and everyday unease get tangled up in dense, caustic snapshots. From the early grind of Under Color of Official Right and The Agent Intellect to the broader, darker edges of Ultimate Success Today and the more recent Formal Growth in the Desert, expect a set that leans into nervous energy, controlled dissonance, and sharp lyrical focus without polishing off the roughness.
