Skipinnish come to Perth Theatre and Concert Hall in Perth on December 10, 2026, bringing their Highland-and-islands take on Scottish folk into a full live set built for movement as much as listening. Formed in Glasgow in 1999 by Angus MacPhail and Andrew Stevenson, the band keeps one foot in tradition and the other in a more modern, song-driven approach, with the ceilidh spirit never far away.
Expect the core colours of the sound to be front and centre: accordion lines pushing the pulse, bagpipes and whistles cutting through, fiddle carrying the melodies, all tied together by a tight band feel. Skipinnish weave traditional Scottish music and Celtic folk into arrangements that can tip into folk-rock without losing that Hebridean melodic backbone. Mostly sung in English but always connected to Gaelic culture, their set draws on years of releases and a reputation built across festivals and Scottish stages, where dance energy and straightforward songwriting meet.
