Info
Thea Gilmore will perform at The Crescent in York on Monday 19 October at 7h30.
Thea Gilmore is a prolific and independent singer-songwriter whose career spans more than two decades and 20 albums, beginning with her debut Burning Dorothy in 1998. Known for her raw, emotive writing as well as her ability to reinterpret others’ work, she continues to evolve while maintaining a deeply human connection at the heart of her music.
In 2025, she released These Quiet Friends, a collection of cover versions that have served as quiet anchors throughout her life, reimagined with her distinctive voice. The record sits alongside her growing reputation as both a songwriter and an interpreter.
Alongside this, Gilmore has launched The Echo Line, a project that transforms anonymous voice messages into songs. The project has drawn attention from BBC Radio 4’s Front Row and BBC Radio 6 Music, and has seen hundreds of stories shared.
A compelling live performer, she has recently completed two solo tours, including a full band show at London’s Union Chapel, and has toured in support of Richard Hawley.
Her music has featured in films, including Joyride (2022) and Army Of The Dead (2021), and she has collaborated with artists including Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg, Martha Wainwright, Steve Earle, Beth Orton and John Cooper Clarke.
