Lee Fields arrives at La Cartonnerie in Reims on February 23, 2027, with that rough, warm soul he has carried since the late 1960s. Born in North Carolina and settled at a very young age in New Jersey, he has weathered trends and troughs without ever letting go of the core: a voice full of grit, tight grooves, horns that crackle, somewhere between Southern soul, stripped-down funk, and haunting ballads.
Long kept in the shadows, he makes a strong comeback when his path crosses the Desco/Daptone scene and he teams up with The Expressions.
