On October 30, 2026, Sound Metaphors Festival Part 2 lands at Berghain in Berlin, focusing on acts that prefer to crank up club music rather than polish it smooth. Instead of a tight spectrum of genres, there are friction points between house, techno, dub, and experimentation.
Daphni, the club-oriented alter ego of Dan Snaith (Caribou), stands for loop-driven tracks, percussive details, and long arcs of tension between quirky disco and leftfield techno. John Talabot brings his melancholic Balearic touch to progressive DJ narratives, somewhere between deep house, disco shadows, and psychedelic expansiveness.
With Surgeon comes the Birmingham School: dense, bodily techno, industrial-tinged, with hypnotic progressions and rough textures. Mark Ernestus hooks in with his minimal and dub DNA, anchored by deep echoes and reduced grooves, while Audrey Danza holds the night together with darker, psychedelic curves and controlled crescendos.
Lena Willikens, finally, disassembles the expected: electro, EBM, wave, and slow-burn techno in sets that function on tension. Aba Shanti-I brings the sound-system tradition into play: bass, dub versions, and a distinctive, heavy flow.
