On March 26, 2027, Bonobo sets up his gear and his eye for detail at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Under this name, Simon Green has for years been shaping melodic electronic music where downtempo, trip-hop, and nu-jazz rub shoulders with more organic arrangements, between muffled basslines and soft rhythms. With Distance In Static, slated for release on Ninja Tune, he pushes his penchant for collaborations even further: Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis, and Aanya Martin lend their voices to an album that moves between several languages and textures, with Iranian samples and touches of guzheng amid instrumentation that is meticulously sculpted. On stage, Bonobo transforms these materials into a true live format, conceived as a show in its own right: a concert that blurs the boundaries between club and concert hall, powered by a carefully staged space and a strong group dynamic. In Paris, he comes to present this new phase, between studio precision and collective energy.
