On May 14, 2027 at OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Simple Minds bring their long-running Glasgow-born sound back home, with a set that moves between early post-punk tension and the wide-screen, synth-driven melodic rock they shaped through the ’80s and beyond. Led by the core duo Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, the band’s live show is built for momentum: shimmering guitars, pulsing electronics, and big choruses that nod to the arc from New Gold Dream to Street Fighting Years, while leaving space for later-era material.
Joining them, Gary Numan adds the colder, darker edge of UK electronic music. From the stark, keyboard-led punch of his late-’70s breakthroughs to the heavier industrial turn he’s pursued since the ’90s, his songs lock into tight rhythms and thick atmospheres, still driven by that signature mix of sci-fi unease and emotional distance. Together, it’s a night that connects two very different routes through British synth music, on the same Glasgow stage.
