Info
The Telescopes have continually pushed the boundaries, stepped outside frames, and explored different possibilities. This universe contains many pieces, embraced by different musical genres, influential for many, open to all, and evolving in its own orbit. In 2024, The Telescopes released three albums, followed by a three-month tour in the United Kingdom and Europe. Today, the open and eclectic sounds of The Telescopes return with a volley of incendiary tracks. Take a Static Charge and push beyond the limits of natural vision. Primitive rhythms, outsider sounds and perturbations in the bass frequencies unite to resist the new strangeness of existence. This is the 8th album by The Telescopes on Tapete Records, featuring the sound of four different people playing together in the same room. The Telescopes experience is known for its lineup in perpetual evolution, ranging from one to twenty people. For this album, The Telescopes present themselves as a quartet consisting of: - Stephen Lawrie, founder and central figure of The Telescopes, guitar and vocals - Darrell Carter, guitar - Robert Prest, bass - John Lynch, drums and percussion Some facts: John also plays with The Jonny Halifax Invocation. Darrell releases music under the name Fromme, and Robert's father once worked transporting Fela Kuti aboard a private jet. The album was written, recorded, and produced over a two-month period, from November 2025 to January 2026, at Stephen Lawrie's Butterfly House studio in Shropshire. The album was largely recorded live, with the only overdubs being the vocal harmonies. The album contains seven tracks.
