Info
Sofie Royer brings her multi-disciplinary pop universe to the Monarch Tavern in Toronto on November 13, 2026. With Austro-Iranian roots and a classical backbone from her violin and viola training at the Vienna Conservatory, she writes songs that look like pop on the surface, then tilt into stranger harmonies and unexpected moods. After years in the US—where she helped kickstart Boiler Room in Los Angeles—she returned to Vienna in 2018 to fully focus on her solo project, soon linking up with Stones Throw.
On stage, Royer’s synth-pop is carried by sharp melodies and a taste for visual-culture references, moving between European theatrical flair and a more direct, American songwriting instinct. Her run of albums—Cult Survivor, Harlequin and Young-Girl Forever—maps out a sound that’s intimate without being confessional, stylized without feeling distant, and always a little off-center in the best way.
