Big Wreck lands in Ottawa on October 30, 2026 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa with that dense rock sound that blends hard rock, alternative, touches of progressive rock and blues undertones. Led by the voice and guitar of Ian Thornley, the band plays on contrasts: heavy riffs, dynamics that snap and surge, clean melodies and long buildups that leave space for the guitars. From early releases that established them in the late 1990s to more recent albums and EPs, Big Wreck has kept this approach of writing multi-layered, substantial yet precise songs designed for the live stage.
As the opener, Royal Tusk comes to bring a more upfront energy. The Edmonton quartet draws from contemporary hard rock, grunge heritage and blues-tinged hues, with a rhythm section that pushes hard and melodic choruses that stick quickly. From DealBreaker to Altruistic, their sound has thickened without losing its direct edge: a good warm-up before Big Wreck's big swings.
