Info

Van Morrison returns to the stage on October 9, 2026 at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, with that signature blend of soul, folk, blues, jazz and Celtic heritage. Born in Belfast, he first came to prominence in the 1960s as the singer of Them, a rhythm-and-blues group that would leave behind the track 'Gloria' before he went solo. From 'Brown Eyed Girl', and then with Astral Weeks and Moondance, he established a writing style that moves effortlessly from the song format to more expansive pieces, carried by a voice capable of being rhythmic, caressing or rugged. On stage, his repertoire spans the decades without aiming to recreate past performances: the core R&B and gospel remains, with a real emphasis on phrasing, breaths and improvisation. Collaborations also punctuate his career, from The Chieftains to John Lee Hooker or Joey DeFrancesco, but it is above all this way of inhabiting standards and newer titles that threads the concert.
